Area Guide

The Hotel Mance is perfectly placed for wandering on foot around the delightful village of Brod na Kupi and its immediate environment. The first lure for walkers is the very Kupa River, flowing just a few meters from the hotel's terrace. You can walk along the riverbank, watch fishermen trying their luck in its waters, or take a dip in the clear water from the tiny public beach area, most summers. The historic bridge that connects Croatia with Slovenia stands right there. It allows a unique chance to walk literally into another country.

The village of Brod na Kupi is small, and it is easily done on foot in a quite short walk. The most significant cultural site is the 17th-century Zrinski Castle – only five minutes’ walk up from the hotel. Today this historical castle hosts a permanent hunting and forestry and fishing great-panorama-exhibition providing insight to the heritage of the region of Gorski Kotar. The village also has very few such other kinds of facilities except a church, some traditional houses, and a small convenience store with basics to make lots of people feel calm.

Several lovely footpaths begin in the village itself, so you can take a short walk along the ‘‘Path of the Butterflies’’ or select one of the more demanding hiking trails that climb through the wooded hills surrounding the valley. Its position allows one to begin an outdoor adventure straight from the door without having to drive anywhere first. No other facility can provide such easy access to the beauty of nature for adventure lovers.
